The other major source, and by far the biggest source of email addresses for spammers is of course the mailto links on your own website. You can easily scan email sent to that address for messages from your registrar, and delete the rest without having to read it. That means there are a lot of spammers out there with easy access to your email address. Spam Assassin is perhaps the best option.
The reason you get those bounce messages is because the spammers don't really care if some of their emails are sent to addresses that are invalid or defunct. Spammers use high-volume mail merge software that picks a From address at random from their database of addresses, and sometimes even the recipient address is forged. It's even worse when the spam *is* delivered to a valid address and that person blames YOU. Spammers generally don't like to poke their misshapen little heads out from under the rocks where they live, so they try to divert attention from themselves by making it look like someone else sent that enlarge your body part message. In such a case, you can just explain that it was the work of an Evil Spammer who forged your address.
Nevertheless, we all know that some spam inevitably gets through to our inboxes. Well if you miss those types of boxes on the wrong kinds of sites, your email addresses may be handed to spammers on a silver platter. difficult to block them unless you use a program like Spam
Arrest. If you use Outlook, you
go into Tools, Options, select the Mail Delivery tab and
change check messages every 30, 60 or 90 minutes. There are other programmed e-mails dumping cookies

In addition to personal emails, unwanted spam messages are a significant time waster. The combination of spam- blockers with other methods of spam control technologies such as SIDF, SPF, Bayesian Filters, Blacklists, Whitelists, Anomaly Detection, and Spam Signatures has proven to be much more effective. Adopting an anti-spam system alone has not proven effective to stop spam. Spam and personal abuse of email can also cause a corporation's email system to waste valuable bandwidth resources. There are also special organizations such as the AntiSPAMLeague.
